Quimper is a charming town in the district of Finistère, in Brittany, France. It covers 84 sq km (33 sq mi) and has a population of 64,000 people (2012 estimate). The city is situated at the confluence of the river Steir with the river Odedt and the Jet. The name Quimper, written as Kemper in Breton, means "confluence" in the Breton language.

Quimper has a history going back to Celtic times, and even today retains its Celtic character. The city which dates back to Roman times was the capital of the historic region of Cornouaille.

Quimper wears a quaint feel to it, with footbridges across the rivers and many well-preserved historic buildings. It has many pedestrianized streets worth exploring. Many of these lead to beautiful timber-framed houses. The Cathedral of Saint-Corentin is the oldest Gothic structure in Lower Brittany. The best known local product is Quimper faïence pottery.
