Notre-Dame Cathedral is a famous cathedral in
Paris, France. Located on the
Île de la Cité, just beside the
River Seine, the Notre-Dame Cathedral dates back to 1163, and was completed in 1345.
The Notre-Dame Cathedral was built in the French Gothic style. It is one of the first buildings in the world to employ the use of flying buttress to support the walls. The flying buttress were actually added on when fractures began to appear on the walls as they were constructed ever higher.
