Chi, The Spa, at Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa (21 April 2019)


My wife and I were thrilled to be given a complimentary session at Chi, The Spa, on Sunday, 21 April, 2019. This is for us to experience the spa, as part of my Spa In Penang Series.

Chi, The Spa, at Rasa Sayang Resort is one of the most opulent spas in Penang. Incidentally, it received the coveted Spa of the Year award from Pevonia Malaysia, the sole distributor of Pevonia Botanica range of beauty and spa products. Chi is set in a verdant surrounding, with water features and green plants. Upon our arrival at the reception hall, we were warmly welcomed.

The treatment that we were experiencing is called Jari Menari Malay Massage. The name means "dancing fingers". This is a 60-minute full-body treatment based on traditional Malay massage that is passed down from generation to generation. The technique consists of long kneading strokes using stronger pressure point techniques to work on the deep layers of the body to release muscle tension.

The massage was carried out in a couple's villa. It has a dressing room with ensuite toilet, and a spacious massage room. This being a couple's villa, there were two massage tables, for my wife and me. My masseuse was Tammy while my wife's masseuse was Sarah.

The Jari Menari Malay Massage is a most soothing experience. For this massage, I chose the Oolong massage oil while my wife opted for Ylang-Ylang massage oil. Distant music played in the background as the massage progressed.

Our sixty minute massage passed quickly and before I knew it, the session is concluded. After we changed back to our day clothes, Tammy ushered us back to the reception hall, where we were served with drinks. The Jari Menari Malay Massage was a most delightful experience for the two of us, and we thank Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa for giving us the opportunity to try it.
