Kutisvara (GPS: 13.43394, 103.89972) is a small, rather difficult to find brick temple in Angkor. It is a place that only serious Angkor enthusiasts would give time to visit. The temple was built in the early 9th century to mid 10th century, during the reigns of Jayavarman II and Rajendravarman. Kutisvara consists of three very dilapidated towers, arranged from north to south. They are half buried, making them quite difficult to find.

I was determined to visit Kutisvara, so I told my tuk tuk driver Mr Han to slow down his vehicle as I scanned the space on the opposite side of the road from Banteay Kdei. By chance I found this ruin which I believe is Kutisvara, as there are no other ruins along this stretch that "fits the bill".

How to reach Kutisvara

Kutisvara is an Angkor temple that you need to search for, if you wish to explore it. It is located about 200 meters north of Banteay Kdei's northern outer enclosure wall. Let's start from Banteay Kdei (go to the Banteay Kdei page for directions to get there).

At the t-junction of Banteay Kdei and Srah Srang, turn left and take the road in the direction of Ta Prohm. 200 meters before Banteay Kdei's north gopura, stop your vehicle. Well, to do that you might need to reach the north gopura, and the U-turn back for 200 meters. Then look for a path to take you into the fields on your left (northside). Go for 200 meters.

Let me tell you in advance that Kutisvara is very difficult to find. Hopefully your tuk tuk driver can help you. My own tuk tuk driver had stopped and waited for me while I went to look for this temple ruins.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
