Regina is the capital of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. It is a small city of about 120,000 people on the southern part of Saskatchewan, and is the second largest city in the province after Saskatoon.

The name Regina, which is the official title of a queen, refers to Queen Victoria. It was named by Queen Victoria's daughter Princess Louise, who was married to the Governor General of Canada.

Regina was founded in 1882 when Edgar Dewdney, the leutenant-governor of the then North-West Territories, decided to create a settlement on the rolling grassland beside a pile of bison bones. The place then known as Pile-of-Bones was an unpopular choice, considering two other sites, Troy and Fort Qu'Appelle were geographically superior. It erupted into a scandal where Dewdney's choice was tied to his having bought land at Pile-of-Bones. Nonetheless, there was nothing much that could be done to challenge the decision, and the town at Pile-of-Bones was eventually developed.

Regina experiences a humid continental climate with extreme temperatures. Summers are warm, with average high reaching over 25°C (78°F) in July and August. Winters ate bitterly cold, with the termometer dropping below 0°C in the months of November to February. The coldest month is January, when the average high temperature of the day is just -10.7°C.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
