Bazaars in Penang

Unlike the 70's and early 80's, Bazaars in Penang are no longer as popular as they used to be, with the competition they receive nowadays from air-conditioned shopping malls. Nevertheless, they are a popular shopping destination for a small segment of the working class.

The biggest bazaar in Penang is the Penang Bazaar along Penang Road. This is where you can find small outlets selling things like clothes, handbags, hats, umbrellas, textile and household items. The shops spill out to occupy Penang Road and parts of Campbell Street.

Other places where you can find bazaar-style shopping are the night markets as well as the Lorong Kulit Flea Market.
