Located off the main island of Taiwan is a chain of offshore islands. Many of these islands have retained its natural beauty, and has remained untouched by development and urbanization. Some of these are home of indigenous tribes which continue to practise their customs, albeit nowadays coming face-to-face with development, and having to adapt to 21st century expectation.
Many of Taiwan'sw offshore island today depend on tourism as the mainstay of its economy, with the bulk of tourists coming from the Taiwan main island, and increasingly from China mainland.
