On 2 June 2009, strong wind caused the roof of the stadium to collapse. It also destroyed a car and four motorcycles parked belonging to workers. Fortunately there were no casualties in the incident. The collapse damaged part of the spectator area including the royal platform.

As of February 2011, the debris from the collapse have been cleared, but the repair work has yet to start.
