Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (GPS: 5.36979, 103.10556) is a stadium on the northern part of Kuala Terengganu. It is located in Gong Badak, off Jalan Lapangan Terbang, a short distance from the Kuala Terengganu Airport, and not far from the beach.

Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium was built at a cost of RM292 million. It was officially opened by Sultan Mizan, who is the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, on 10 May, 2008. It can accommodate 60,000 spectators and was the venue of the 2008 Sukma Games. It is the main sporting venue in Terengganu, and is part of the Terengganu Sports Complex, which also includes the Stadium Tertutup Terengganu.

On 2 June 2009, strong wind caused the roof of the stadium to collapse. It also destroyed a car and four motorcycles parked belonging to workers. Fortunately there were no casualties in the incident. The collapse damaged part of the spectator area including the royal platform.

As of February 2011, the debris from the collapse have been cleared, but the repair work has yet to start.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
