Simpang (GPS: 4.81855, 100.70707) is a suburb of
Taiping. The name Simpang means crossroad, because the town is located at an important crossroad, between Federal Route 1, the old trunk road, and Route 74, also known as the Taiping-Kuala Sepetang Road. This is the old road that leads to Port Weld, as
Kuala Sepetang was called during the British colonial days.
