Bandar Seri Manjung (GPS: 4.19482, 100.66446) is a new town that was developed in the 1980s in Manjung District. It was made the district seat, with the Seri Manjung Municipal Council having jurisdiction over the entire district.
Nearby towns include Lumut, Sitiawan and Beruas. The main tourist destination in this area is Pangkor Island. The township of Seri Manjung is to the immediate west of Sitiawan and to the east of Lumut.
Seri Manjung was created when the Malaysian naval base that was formerly stationed in Woodlands, Singapore, had to be relocated to Malaysia, and was thus moved to Lumut. The name Manjung was coined to replace the former name, Dinding, which was deemed inappropriate.
