The road Jalan Dato Ismail Shah Bodin is a one‐way north-to-south link street in the city of Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. It connects Jalan Dato Seri Ahmad Said at its northern end and joins Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil at its southern terminus, running along the east side of the civic square area. 8
Jalan Dato Ismail Shah Bodin begins at its northern intersection with Jalan Dato Seri Ahmad Said, proceeding southwards in a one-way direction until it meets Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil. Because of its one‐way restriction, traffic flows exclusively from the north junction down to the southern junction, supporting efficient local circulation in the administrative precinct. 8
The road lies immediately to the east of the open civic plaza area known as the Dataran Bandaraya Ipoh, making it a valuable access route for the civic and commercial buildings nearby. Its position within the precinct means that along this street you’ll find a mix of office buildings, financial services, event spaces and food & beverage outlets. 8
The street is named in honour of the late Datuk Ismail Shah Bodin, who served as the second Datuk Bandar (Mayor) of Ipoh from 1993 to 1994. 6 The naming recognises his contribution to the city’s administration and local development.
Even though Jalan Dato Ismail Shah Bodin is primarily a functional urban link road, it has a fun local twist: the weekly food-stalls and event booths at the adjacent plaza often spill over into the road’s flank, making it possible to combine a stroll along this road with a quick stop for local street-food or coffee in the vicinity. 10
Visitors can access the road via Jalan Dato Seri Ahmad Said at the north, then proceed southwards along the one‐way street until reaching Jalan Sultan Abdul Jalil. Because it lies within a busy civic zone, during major events vehicular access may be restricted and pedestrian flow increased; this makes it well suited for walkers exploring the precinct after office hours.
