Hong Kee Mah Chee (5 July 2020)
Hong Kee Mah Chee (GPS: 4.57302, 101.08698) is a stall selling creamy peanut soup in Ipoh, Perak. Located on Jalan Queen in the Taman Pasir Pinji neighbourhood, the stall is quite popular in Ipoh, even though it seems to be in the middle of nowhere. The present stall dates only to around 2017, although the creamy peanut soup has been sold here for as long as anyone can remember, initially from a hawker cart.
Hong Kee Mah Chee stall sells only two items: mah chee (local rice cakes similar to mochi) and creamy peanut soup. The stall opens every day except Thursday, with business hours from 1:00pm to 6:00pm.
My wife and I enjoyed the creamy peanut soup during our recent visit to Ipoh. It is very smooth, and would go perfectly with ham chin peng.
