Menara 238 (GPS: 3.16851, 101.7132) is a 36-storey skyscraper in Kuala Lumpur. It is located at the junction of Jalan Tun Razak with Jalan Raja Muda Abdul Aziz. Menara 238 was previously known as Menara Marinara. It was bought by KPJ Healthcare in October, 2013, to house its headquarters, for RM206 million. The company has relocated all its non-revenue generating services to the building.
I happened to get to know the architect of Menara Marinara. He told me that the building was built by a Bumiputra company called PekelilingTriangle. It was designed by the architectural firm of Jurubena Bertiga International Sdn. The 1997 financial crash caused the construction to stall, and the owner was unable to sell it. So the property came under a government body set up to rescue failing Bumiputra businesses. After the building was acquired, the new owner did some modification to the original design, and it becomes known today as Menara 238.
