Jalan Tanglin, Kuala Lumpur

Jalan Tanglin, Kuala Lumpur (Mar 2024)

Jalan Tanglin is a minor road in Kuala Lumpur. It is located in a leafy, hilly part of the city. Jalan Tanglin connects Jalan Cenderawasih on one end to Jalan Lembah, at the intersection with Jalan Tembusu and Jalan Cenderasari, on the other.

Originally known as Tanglin Road, Jalan Tanglin was named after Tanglin Hospital which is on Hospital Road, now known as Jalan Cenderasari. Tanglin Hospital was originally known as the General Hospital, despite its modest size. However, when the General Hospital was relocated to become the present Hospital Kuala Lumpur, to replace the Pauper Hospital there, the one at Hospital Road was renamed Tanglin Hospital, and it is still there today.

There is also a Tanglin Road in Singapore, but as of now, I have not yet ascertain if there is a connection between the two.
