Jalan Strachan, Kuala Lumpur

Jalan Strachan on Google Street View

Jalan Strachan (Jun 2024) Jalan Strachan is a minor road in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur. This is the road that connects the Sentul railway depot and workshop to Ipoh Road (Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah). The whole industrial neighbourhood has since undergone a total makeover, and is today a sprawling park called Sentul West.

Jalan Strachan was named after John Strachan1, a chartered engineer who worked as Director of Public Works of the Federated Malay States. He first arrived in Malaya in 1920, was tranferred to Sri Lanka for a period, but returned to serve as General Manager of the Federal Malay States Railway in 1927. He was also the Chairman of the Railway Board within the Federal Council, and was a member of the Johor Causeway Committee.
