Jalan Perdana is a minor road in a leafy part of downtown Kuala Lumpur. This is the road that leads to the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, or as it is known today, the Perdana Botanical Gardens. The road was originally named Venning Road, after Alfred Reid Venning, the botanist and plant collector who was instrumental in the design and landscaping of the Lake Gardens. Venning was the State Treasurer in the Selangor government.
Venning Road was renamed Jalan Perdana in honour of Malaysia's second prime minister, the late Tun Abdul Razak, who had his residence on that road. The residence has been preserved as the Tun Abdul Razak Memorial.
