Jalan Kampung Attap is a road near the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. Its name means "Thatch Village Road", a testament to a past when the area was a rural village. The road has been around since the late 19th century. It was given the name Kampong Attap Road on 20 February, 18961 and when it was translated into Malay, managed to somehow retain the spelling "attap" instead of the Malay "atap" (though "kampong" became "kampung).
Jalan Kampung Attap once led to the slaughterhouse by the banks of the Klang River. This has long been demolished. Moreover, there is no kampong on Jalan Kampung Attap today either, as it is lined with high rise buildings instead. The road runs parallel to Jalan Sultan Sulaiman for much of its route.
