Jalan Cochrane is one of the major roads in Kuala Lumpur. It runs in a roughly east-west direction, beginning at the interchange with Jalan Yew, from where it continues west as Jalan Pasar. On the eastern side, Jalan Cochrane ends at the junction with Jalan Permaisuri, where it continues as Jalan Mahkota in the Taman Maluri neighbourhood of Kuala Lumpur.
As of 2013 to 2015, Jalan Cochrane was largely a massive construction site as the former structures on both sides of the road make way for new development. This includes two large shopping centres, a large condominium complex and an underground MRT station.
Jalan Cochrane, originally known as Cochrane Road, was named after the British General Advisor of Johor, Charles Walter Hamilton Cochrane, who also served as a Resident of Perak from 1929 to 1930. Traditionally, much of Jalan Cochrane was occupied by government quarters within Kampung Pandan. Since 2013, the surrounding neighbourhood is undergoing a major facelift with the arrival of the Cochrane MRT Station and IKEA Cheras, the second outlet of the famous Swedish furniture store in Malaysia.
