Malut Dam is one of the sources of drinking water in Langkawi. It is located on the southern part of the island, near the Langkawi Golf Club. The construction of Malut Dam created the man-made Malut Reservoir. The water from Malut Dam is said to be high in iron and manganese, and this has to be reduced through an artificial aeration process.
There are several reservoirs in Langkawi supporting the water needs of the island. The main source comes from
Padang Saga Reservoir and Bukit Changkuan Reservoir. Other reservoirs include the Teluk Nibong Reservoir, Padang Lallang Reservoir, Kuah Reservoir and Bukit Malut Reservoir.
