Penang You Are So Beautiful

Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Seg Hwa is a school in Segamat, Johor. Its official name is Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Seg Hwa, or SMJK Seg Hwa. It is located at Jalan Tahang Rimau, across the road from Sekolah Kebangsaan Datuk Wan Idris.

SMJK Seg Hwa traces its history to 1936, when the Chinese community in Segamat established a Chinese primary school known as Chong Cheng Primary School. A secondary school was also established under the same name after the Second World War, Chong Cheng Primary School became known as the Hwa Chiao Primary and Secondary School. The name Hwa Chiao means "overseas Chinese". During this time, it was a school privately funded by the Chinese community.

After the Independence of Malaya in 1957, the school accepted government funding. During this time, it changed its name to Seg Hwa, meaning "Segamat Chinese". The primary school, now known as Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Seg Hwa, is located at Jalan Mentol, while the secondary school is at Jalan Tahang Rimau. It is regarded as one of the best schools in Segamat.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
