Johor Bahru East Coast Parkway is a highway serving the eastern suburbs of Johor Bahru. It is also called the Johor Bahru-Pasir Gudang Highway as well as Federal Route 35. Spanning approximately 13.4 kilometers (8.3 miles), it connects Kampung Bakar Batu near the city center to the industrial town of Pasir Gudang. Along its route, the highway passes through key areas such as Bandar Baru Permas Jaya and Taman Rinting.1
A notable feature of this highway is the Permas Jaya Bridge, which crosses the confluence of Sungai Tebrau and Sungai Plentong. This bridge provides an alternative route to Pasir Gudang, complementing the existing Pasir Gudang Highway. The highway was developed as part of the Iskandar Malaysia project, aiming to enhance connectivity within the region.2
Construction of the highway commenced in 2008. By 2012, the section up to Taman Megah Ria was partially completed, and the remaining stretch from Taman Megah Ria to Pasir Gudang Highway was opened to the public in 2013. In 2014, the highway was officially gazetted as Federal Route 35.1, 2
Built according to the JKR R5 road standard, the highway permits a maximum speed limit of up to 90 km/h. However, it lacks dedicated motorcycle lanes.
