Bandar Sunway
Bandar Sunway is a major township in Selangor, located within the city of Subang Jaya, approximately 20 kilometres southwest of central Kuala Lumpur. It is widely recognized as one of Malaysia’s most successful examples of an integrated township, combining residential, commercial, educational, and recreational components. The township is best known for its landmarks, Sunway Lagoon and Sunway Pyramid, both developed by the Sunway Group.

History of Bandar Sunway
Bandar Sunway was developed in the late 1980s by the Sunway Group on what was once a disused tin-mining area. The developer transformed the barren landscape into a modern, self-contained township. The opening of Sunway Lagoon in 1993 marked the area’s emergence as a major leisure and tourism hub, while the completion of Sunway Pyramid in 1997 further cemented its reputation as a lifestyle destination.

Bandar Sunway was Malaysia’s first township to receive the Green Building Index (GBI) certification for sustainable township planning. The integrated BRT system, extensive pedestrian linkages, and green initiatives such as solar power and water recycling have earned it recognition as a model urban community in Southeast Asia.
