As with many small towns in England today, Ashbourne is highly dependent on tourism as an income earner. Of interest here is Tissington Trail, a recreational walk and cycling path running 13 miles from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne, and passing a number of scenic sights. The town of Ashbourne itself is a quiet place. It does come alive duringthe annual Royal Shrovetide Football Match.
