Breda is a Dutch city at the confluence of the rivers Aa and Mark in North Brabant, Netherlands. The city has a population of 175,000 (2011 estimate), within an urban area of 316,000 people. The old city of Breda is a fortified town. It received its town charter in 1252. Today the city is a food and beverage manufacturing hub for major brands such as Hero, Van Melle and De Faam.

Visiting Breda
Breda can be reached by high-speed trains from Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam, Antwerp and Brussels on the HSL-Zuid line. Its new Central Station is expected to open in 2011.
