The Saronic Islands is an archipelago in Greece. They are so called because of their location in the Saronic Gulf, which is off shore from Athens. They are composed of many islands of which the most important inhabited ones include Salamina, Aegina, Angistri and Poros.
Today many of the Saronic Islands are vacation islands. Many wealthy Greeks maintain holiday homes on these islands which are served by ferry boats from Piraeus and the Peloponnese.
