Bao Ern Temple (16 October, 2005)


Bao Ern Temple is a huge temple in Pingwu is a town on the route between Mianyang and Jiuzhaigou. The layout of temple is like the Forbidden City of Beijing. Though on a smaller scale then the Forbidden City, it is nevertheless a huge temple.

Among the historical treasures within Bao Ern Temple is a Kuan Yin image with many hands that was carved from a single block of wood.

An ancient wooden pagoda kept indoors at Bao Ern Temple. It is called the Huanyan Hall, and is used to keep the Buddhist scripture. Believers may spin this scripture as a form of "reading" the scripture. (16 October, 2005)
