Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries - Wolong, Mount Siguniang & Jiajin Mountains, China

The Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries covers an area of 924,500 hectares in seven nature reserves and nine scenic parks in the Qionglai and Jiajin Mountains in Sichuan Province, China. It includes Wolong National Nature Reserve and Mount Siguniang. Together, these protected nature sites account for 30% of the world's highly endangered panda population. In addition to the wildlife, the sanctuaries are among the botanically richest sites in the world outside the tropical rainforest, with between 5000 to 6000 species of plant life of over 1000 genera.

The Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries were inscribed as World Heritage Sites during the 30th session of the World Heritage Committee in Vilnius, Lithuania between 8-16 July, 2006.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
