Repulse Bay 淺水灣 is a bay on the southern part of Hong Kong Island, between Deep Water Bay to the west and South Bay to the east. Between Repulse Bay and Deep Water Bay is an islet called Middle Island.
Repulse Bay is said to have been named after pirates hiding out in the bay were successfully repulsed from the area by the British.
As with many formerly quiet areas of Hong Kong Island, Repulse Bay has of late seen the development of upscale properties in the form of high-rise condominiums taking advantage of the superb view in the area. The scenic views of Repulse Bay come with price tags to match - some has reached as high as HK$20,000 per square foot.
