The
Salmagundi Club is a club for artists and people in the art scene. Located at at 47 Fifth Avenue in Greenwich Village, Manhattan, it serves as a watering hole for artists. The club often holds art exhibitions, art classes as well as art auctions.
Founded in 1871, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious art clubs in the world. The club occupies a building that is even older than itself, a mansion built in 1853 for Irad Hawley. The bulding was designated a historical landmark of New York City in 1969, and was added into the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Some of the most famous names in fine arts have been a member of Salmagundi Club. They include such names as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Norman Rockwell and N.C. Wyeth. Honorary members have included Winston Churchill and Buckminster Fuller, to name two.
How to reach the Salmagundi Club
Take the L, N, Q, R or W train to the Union Square/14th Street subway station. Walk west along E 14th Street until intersection with Fifth Avenue, then turn left and walk south along Fifth Avenue until you reach the intersection with W 12th Street. The Salmagundi Club is on the left side of Fifth Avenue after the intersection.
