Church of the Incarnation is an Episcopal church in the Lower Midtown neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. This should not be confused with the
Roman Catholic Church of the Incarnation in Washington Heights. It was built in 1864, it is located at 205-209 Madison Avenue. The church itself was founded in 1850 as a chapel of Grace Church, and became an independent parish in 1852. At that time, Madison Avenue was the preferred residence of the elite.

The facade of the Church of the Incarnation is of patterned sandstone and brownstone. Inside, you can see an oak communion rail. It was fashioned by Daniel Chester French. The chancel mural was the work of John La Farge, who also did the stained-glass windows, along with Tiffany, William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones.
There are a number of famous people who attended this church, among them Admiral David Farragut and Eleanor Roosevelt. The church contains artwork by a number of famous Victorian artists. It also has stained glass windows from the Victorian Era.
How to reach the Church of the Incarnation
Church of the Incarnation is at 209 Madison Avenue. Take the 6 train to the 33rd Street subway station. Walk west along East 33rd Street until intersection with Madison Avenue. Turn right, walk along Madison Avenue. The Church of the Incarnation is on the right side of Madison Avenue, between E 35th and E36th Streets.
