5 Train Service, New York City Subway

The 5 Train is a subway train service of the New York City Subway on the 5 Lexington Avenue Express route. It uses the IRT Lexington Avenue Line in Manhattan.

The 5 train service operates between Dyre Avenue Subway Station in Eastchester, the Bronx and the Brooklyn College - Flatbush Avenue Subway Station in Midwood, Brooklyn.

The 5 train operates express in the Bronx during rush hour in the peak direction. During this period it operates between Nereid Avenue Subway Staiton in Wakefield, the Bronx, and Flatbush Avenue Subway Station. During evenings and weekends, it terminates at Bowling Green Subway Station, and does not go all the way to Brooklyn. Also, at late nights, the 5 operates as a shuttle between Dyre Avenue Subway Station and East 180th Street Subway Station in the Bronx. Passengers wanting to travel farther will have to change to the 2 and 4 trains.
