Glendive is a small city in eastern Montana. Covering 3.4 sq mi (8.7 sq km), it has a population of 5,000 people (2011 estimate). The city is the county seat of Dawson County.

Glendive is the main town in the eastern Montana farming region. It is located between the Yellowstone River and the Badlands. It experiences a semi-arid climate with hot, wet summers and cold, dry winters. The hottest month is Glendive is July, when the average high temperature rises to 87.3°F (30.7°C). Coldest month is January, with average low temperatures of 3.6°F (-15.8°C). June is the wettest month, receiving 2.5 in (63.5 mm) of rain.
