Dickinson, North Dakota

Dickinson is a small city in Stark County, in southwestern North Dakota. It covers 9.5 sq mi (24.6 sq km) and has a population of 18,000 people (2011 estimate). The city is home to Baker Boy, manufacturer of bakery products, and TMI, which manufactures cabinets.

Dickinson is one of the towns in North Dakota that was established when the Northern Pacific Railway was built through the area in 1880. Originally called Pleasant Valley Siding, it was renamed a year after its founding in honor of Wells Stoughton Dickinson, a politician from New York who visited the site.

Dickinson is served by Interstate 94, which runs east-west, connecting it with Bismarck to the east and Beach to the west.
