Ah Hood Road, Singapore

Ah Hood Road, SingaporeAh Hood Road, Singapore (11 July 2011)

Ah Hood Road is a minor road in Balestier, in Novena, Singapore. It connects Balestier Road on the western end to Jalan Rajah in the east. Today the road passes through a largely residential area.

Ah Hood Road was named after a 19th century Teochew businessman, Wee Ah Hood (1828-75), who operated a shop called Chop Hoon Hong at Telok Ayer Street.1. He also owned gambier and pepper plantations, and the road might have been named for it passed through his property.
