Lebuh Sandilands
Sandilands Street, or Lebuh Sandilands, is the last road in the Seven Streets Precinct. It is known in Hokkien as both "Kau Tiau Lor", meaning the "Ninth Street (after the Prangin Canal)", as well as "Pek Tiau Lor Puah", or "Eighth-and-a-half Street".
Sandilands Street was laid when the swampy end of town was reclaimed and the mangrove trees cut down. The corner of Sandilands Street and Bridge Street is regarded as geomantically auspicious to the Chinese, and on that location stands the Seng Ong Beow Temple, which was there even when Sandilands Street was a mere country path.
