Rawang Bypass is a 9-kilometer highway in Selangor, Malaysia. It is part of Federal Route 1. The Rawang Bypass connects Serendah in the north with Jalan Rawang (which is also part of Federal Route 1) in the south, bypassing the highly congested Rawang town centre. By taking the bypass, motorists spend just 30 minutes to travel between Serendah and Selayang, instead of up to two hours, if they were caught in a congestion.
The Rawang Bypass was built at a cost of RM628 million. Work began on 16 July, 2005, but was only completed on 21 November, 2017. It was opened by Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof. Some 30,000 motorists are expected to use the new highway, which includes a 2.7-kilometer elevated stretch. At 58.2 meters, the columns supporting the elevated highway are the highest highway pillars in the country.
