What is Goreng Pisang
Goreng Pisang, or Pisang Goreng by grammar puritans, is deep-fried banana fritters. This snack food is commonly available with street vendors throughout Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore. In Penang, the majority of goreng pisang vendors are either Malay or Chinese, and they sell other deep-fried fritters such as cempedak, yam, kuih kodok, and so on. Most of the Chinese vendors fry the bananas whole while Malay and Thai vendors slice them thinly before flying. They are dipped in a flour-based batter and then dropped into the hot oil.
Ingredients of Goreng Pisang:
wheat flour
eggs
pandan leaves, for flavoring
banana slices
sweet corn
white / brown sugar
grated coconut (optional)
