Experiencing Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya (6 October 2017)


Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya is the first major hotel in the Seberang Jaya township, on Penang Mainland. The 15-storey hotel is located on Lebuh Tenggiri 2. On 6-8 October, 2017, my wife and I enjoyed the privilege of experiencing the hospitality of the hotel.

Upon our arrival, we were directed to park our car at the VIP spot under the porch. Thereafter, Miss Cheong Ka Mei, the Marketing & Communications Manager of the hotel came out to greet us, and ushered us to our room. We were to occupy the Club Room, an exclusive room on the 15th floor (the top floor) of the hotel.

As guest of the Club Room, we enjoy complimentary refreshment bar and full bathroom amenities. In addition to that, we were privileged to use the facilities of the Club Lounge, which serves breakfast in the morning and cocktails in the evening. At Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya, we also get the use of a Press Reader, which allow us to read numerous e-newspapers on our smartphones once connected to the hotel wifi via the Press Reader app and website.

After putting away our luggage, we came downstair for our dinner at the hotel's inhouse dining outlet, Sun Cafe. There, we were greeted by Mr Prakash Kumaran, the General Manager, who hosted us to a delicious dinner of hot pot. The head chef of the hotel, Chef Noppanome Juan aka Chef Nopp, also joined us at our table. We had a lovely time getting to know Mr Prakash and Chef Nopp.

The next morning, we woke up early to enjoy breakfast at the Club Lounge. It offers lovely views of Seberang Jaya all the way sea and Penang Island beyond. The Club Lounge offers us privacy to enjoy a quiet breakfast.

After our breakfast, I met up with Miss Cheong once more, to do a room and facilities tour. We visited the different types of rooms, so that I can photograph and showcase the rooms to my readers. We also visited the function rooms and the gym.

For lunch, we returned to Sun Cafe, which offers more food choices, but is quite crowded, as the hotel was hosting a major function during that time. There is a lot of food to try, and on top of that, Chef Nopp has prepared for us some clear tomyam, which was so tasty. Afterwards Chef Nopp rounded up his entire restaurant team for a group shot with me.

After our lunch, we decided to go shopping at nearby Sunway Carnival Mall. It is just within walking distance from the hotel, so it is easily reached on foot.

By evening, we decided to enjoy cocktail at the Club Lounge, instead of having dinner at Sun Cafe once more. There was so much to eat there, and we enjoyed the serenity of the lounge very much.

The three-day two-night stay passed swiftly and soon it was time for us to check out. We had a final breakfast at the Club Lounge, and prepare to leave the hotel, with happy memories of our stay there. My wife and I are most thankful to the staff of Sunway Hotel Seberang Jaya for their hospitality towards us.
