Bethesda Terrace is a feature in Central Park, New York City. Constructed between 1859 and 1864, it overlooks The Lake. The terrace is on two levels linked by two grand staircases.
The main feature of the terrace is Bethesda Fountain, a fountain encircled within two elliptical balustrades. The Bethesda Fountain was designed by Emma Stebbins and unveiled in 1873. At the top of the fountain is the sculpture of a female winged angle. Beneath her are four cherubs representing Temperance, Purity, Health and Peace.
