The front door is flanked by rectangular windows with vertical metal bars, and topped with bat-shaped air-vents. Below the windows are decorative glazed dado tiles, often known locally as "Nyonya tiles".
Extending from the porch wall is the five-foot way, now finished with brown decorative floor tiles. The upper façade of Yong Yi Yuen comprises a moulded spandrel painted ochre and white, and topped with a row of wooden louvred shutters. Over these is a row of glass panels finished with a series of fixed louvres.
