Yeoh Jetty, George Town

Yeoh Jetty, George Town, Penang (4 February 2009)

Yeoh Jetty is one of the six existing clan jetties in George Town. Known as Snaeh1 Yeoh4 Kio2 in Penang Hokkien, it is the southernmost of the six jetties. Much of the jetty is standing on dry land that has been reclaimed in the past few decades.

The original Yeoh clan living at Yeoh Jetty is said to have come from Xiayangcun village in Haicheng District, Zhangzhou Prefecture of Fujian Province. The pier off this jetty is where the boat carrying the Nine Emperor Gods is sent off following its journey from the Nine Emperor Gods Temple on Jalan Cheong Fatt Tze.1
