Wisma Central, Penang

Wisma Central is one of the older high-rise commercial buildings in George Town. It is located at the junction of Macalister Road and Love Lane, next to the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows. It comprises a three-storey podium with a 6-storey office block.

Wisma Central used to be one of the early attempts at creating a shopping mall in Penang. It has deteriorated immensely since its heydays. While the podium is still being occupied, the office block is pratically devoid of tenants. The building on the whole also appears worn out and neglected, another forlorn member of George Town's "poorly maintained buildings club".

Due to its prime location in George Town, effort should be taken to revitalize Wisma Central and ensure its office tower are filled up again. But then again, this is also the fate of even bigger projects, such as the Komtar Tower.
