The Sri Ragunatha Swami Madhalayam Temple is a Hindu Temple in Bukit Dumbar, Gelugor. It is the northernmost of the Hindu temples of Gelugor. The whole Gelugor area was a Tamil settlement in the early 20th century. Known as Perai Tholam, or big estate, Gelugor was the site of Indian cattle pans. The subsequent development and expansion of George Town has since erased the rural feel of Gelugor, engulfing the old Indian temples and shrines with new urban neighbours. So far Sri Ragunatha Swami has managed to retain its leafy surroundings, partly because it is located on a hill slope which acts as a sound barrier to the housing estate below.
Getting there
Rapid Penang Bus 301, 302 and 303 pass through Jalan Gelugor.
