When the Snake Temple was built in Sungai Keluang, Bayan Lepas, it was sited on the slope of a hillock overlooking the plains, which in the 19th century comprised of marshland, coconut groves and paddy fields. According to feng shui, the temple is located on the head of a dragon. At the eyes of the dragon two wells are dug.
These two Dragon Eye Wells can now be seen within the premises of the Snake Temple. One is located to the right of the grand staircase as one approaches Snake Temple. The other well is located inside the compound of the Snake Farm, which is inside the Snake Temple.
