The George Town World Heritage Site is a small area within the inner city of George Town. Even since this area was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, it has undergone restoration of its period properties.
The World Heritage Site of George Town has a high concentration of historic buildings which are today tourist attractions. This is justaposed again a working, living city which includes the central business district, when most of the banks in Penang is represented. In the past few years, the area has also become well-known as the place to go to view Penang Street Art.
In response to the tide of visitors rolling in, the World Heritage Site and its immediate vicinity have seen a mushrooming of hotels in the area. If you wish to stay within walkiing distance of the tourist attractions in this area, you should consider one of these hotels. In addition to the tourist attractions, the World Heritage Site also offers the opportunity to view the locals up close as they go through their daily lives.
To help you select the hotel that is just right for you, I map out the location of the hotels as well as major tourist attractions, so that you can easily determine where you would like to stay. Let's have a look at the map.
