This is a work in progress report on the construction of the Second Penang Bridge as of January 2002. It was last report on 18 October 2011 in The Star that the construction is running ahead of schedule. The bridge is expected to be completed two months before the scheduled completion date of November 2013.

As of January, 2012, work is in progress in constructing the main span. At time of writing, the bridge is about 65% completed. The roadway on the Batu Kawan side of the bridge is progessing smoothly. The interchange for the bridge with the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway is also materializing.
