Penang Botanic Gardens Lily Pond, Penang

Penang Botanic Gardens Lily Pond is a poind on the northern edge of the Penang Botanic Gardens. Not to be confused with the Waterlily Square or Dataran Teratai, the Lily Pond is surrounding by dense greenery of the forest. Visitors to the pond can enjoy the tranquility of nature.

Although the Lily Pond of the Penang Botanic Gardens is man-made, it has been well integrated into its surroundings. There are steps going down from the walkway to the pond itself, and the water flows out of the pond into a drainage canal, to join Sungai Air Terjun.
Within the Lily Pond are a number of carps and tortoises. They appear relax and happy in the verdant environment. Dragonflies hover on the waterlilies and aquatic plants in the pond, which is shaded by tall trees at the foot of Penang Hill.
The Lily Pond is reached by two jungle paths near the Orchidarium. As you make your way through the paths, you get to enjoy the coolness of the surroundings and enjoy the feel of being in a tropical rainforest.
