Real Estate Review: Parkview Towers, Bukit JambulParkview Towers is an apartment complex on the hillslopes of Bukit Jambul, Penang. It comprises three apartment blocks that are 17 to 18 storeys in height. Parkview Towers was built in 1999 by IJM Properties, like its neighbours Lakeside Tower and Alpine Tower. There are a total of 408 units on 99-year leasehold tenure. The standard units range in size from 800 to 1,200 square feet, where there are 12 penthouses units - 4 for each block - with a built-up area of 1,320 to 1,500 square feet.FacilitiesFacilities include security, multi-storey parking lot, swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis court, squash court, badminton court, children's playground, jogging track, barbeque area, community hall, and landscaping.LocationParkview Towers is 16.8 km from Magazine Circus. It is more suitable for people working in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone area than for those working in George Town. Having said that, I have to point out the congestion along the Paya Terubong as well as Lebuh Bukit Jambul roads especially in the morning and evening rush hour.Public TransportThere isn't any public transport that goes all the way to Alpine Tower. At the nearest, Rapid Penang Bus 301 and 306.AmenitiesThe nearest schools from Alpine Tower include Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan Relau, Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Sungai Ara, Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Chong Cheng, Sekolah Rendah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Min Sin and Sekolah Menengah Sungai Ara. The nearest shopping mall is Bukit Jambul Complex. Sunshine Square, Queensbay Mall and Giant Hypermarket are also within a short distance away. The petrol stations in Relau include a Shell and a Petronas. The nearest hospital is Pantai Hospital.TrafficThe main road, Jalan Relau, is pretty congested, especially during rush hour. Jalan Paya Terubong, going down the hill, isn't any better. A large amount of the traffic comes from vehicles passing through Relau from Air Itam and Paya Terubong. The flow is southbound in the morning, as workers head to Bayan Lepas for work, and in the opposite direction in the evening. This often cause much congestion at the Relau junction as well as at the junction of Persiaran Bukit Jambul with Jalan Dato Ismail Hashim. You may also consider using Lebuh Bukit Jambul, which means a steep climb up and down the hill every day. That's the price for choosing a hilly location for your home. ![]() Parkview Towers (22 September 2009) © Timothy Tye using this photo Buying property in Penang?
