Nautilus Bay Jelutong Promenade

Jelutong Promenade, Nautilus Bay

Nautilus Bay Jelutong Promenade is a new 3.6 km long promenade along Lebuh Sungai Pinang in Bandar Sri Pinang. It is developed by Jelutong Development, a subsidiary of IJM Properties. This seafront urbang park is being developed at a cost of RM7 million, and is expected to provide an alternative spot of people to stroll in the evening, enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Penang Bridge and harbour.

The Jelutong Promenade at Nautilus Bay will stretch from Jalan Sungai Pinang all the way to Penang Bridge, where IJM is engaged in another development, the Light Waterfront.

The Nautilus Bay promenade features a 10-meter walkway beautified with several modern-art sculptures. The most iconic is called Celebration of Our Blue Sky, a set of four 25-meter tall pillars soaring vertically into the sky. Another sculpture, Rhythm of Light, depicts music notes. These sculptures are the work on Hitori Nakayama, a Japanese artist who has been residing in Penang for the past twenty years. They are among the sculptures created by IJM as part of the Penang in Harmony collection, which includes the Harmony Fly seagull sculpture at Jelutong Expressway and Wave of Prosperity sculpture at the Gurney Drive roundabout. Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng, during the hand-over ceremony, praised the developer for bringing art out of gallery space and into the public realm.

Getting there

Nautilus Bay is presently not served by any buses so the most convenient way to get there is by car. From George Town, take the Jelutong Expressway. Exit the expressway at the Sungai Pinang Interchange, turn left and drive in the direction of the sea. You will be able to see the promenade and the sculpture Celebration of Our Blue Sky in front of you.
