Jalan Nanking
Nanking Road, or Jalan Nanking is one of the roads in the Seven Streets Precinct of George Town. It was developed at the turn of the 20th century. Before that it was one of the village trails. Nanking Road links McNair Street to Brick Kiln Road. It is one of the roads in the Seven Streets Precinct that does not go all the way east to Bridge Street.
Nanking Road (along with Peking Street) was an late entry into the Seven Streets Precinct, when Herriot Street, called Pek Tiau Lor, has already been laid and named. Nanking Road was thus known in Hokkien as Chit Tiau Lor Puah, or Seven-and-a-half Street.
Getting there
Nanking Road is not on the bus route, but Rapid Penang Bus 302, 401, 401A and 704 pass through McNair Street.
